Press Release – Spring into fun at Apley Farm Shop
Alternative headline – Snap ‘appy at Apley this Spring
By Lady [Harriet] Hamilton, 8 February 2016
Far from hibernating, Apley Farm Shop has just emerged from a busy January planning a fabulous series of Spring events –the most exciting being the First Apley Bake Off on bank holiday Monday 2 May.
Kicking off with Mothers’ Day (6 March) lunch Afternoon Teas & Easter Sunday lunches (27 March), they’ve added an Apley Easter Funday on bank holiday Monday 28 March.
Lady Harriet Hamilton explained “It’ll be a day packed with children’s fun Easter games – an Easter bonnet parade, a fancy dress competition, egg & spoon races, an Easter egg hunt, an Easter piñata & an egg painting competition.”
Apley Estate owner Lord Hamilton added “To celebrate five years since opening, we’ll be offering free cupcakes to early bird customers on Thursday 31 March & planting one tree for every year of trading along our exit drive”.
Tina Buckland, General Manager, described their new event: “We’re holding the first ever Apley Bake Off on Bank Holiday Monday, 2 May when we’re invited 6 talented local chefs to give a demonstration of one of their favourite dishes. What makes it a unique event is that the chefs will then share their practical culinary tips with customers in a Have a Go tent.”
Anyone can enter our cake & tart competition, which will be judged at 2pm. Customers are invited to bring along any cake or tart (sweet or savoury) on the day. Throughout the day, Pigg’s Playbarn will hold a hands-on children’s cookery corner.
Amy Holloway, Pigg’s Playbarn manager added “We have a year-long programme with something special organized nearly every day for the children. This Spring, there’s card making for Valentine’s Day, Mothers’ Day, Easter & Fathers’ Day, as well as storytelling, craft activities, fancy dress, & a book & game corner when the children need some quiet time.”
Apley butchers Jon Callinswood & Craig Whitehouse are busier than ever having just won awards for their sausages. “Spring lamb will be available very soon from less than 1 mile away on the Apley Estate – our customer love that proximity & provenance.”
