Skylark Nature Trail
Our Skylark Nature Trail is so called due to the large number of Skylarks we hear in Spring & Summer. They’re hard to see, as they’re small & hover so high. They hover, watching for seeds & insects.
The trail begins & ends in the car park at Apley Farm Shop.
Click to view the Skylark Nature Trail map. It is about 1 mile (1.5 km) & takes about 45 mins.
It’s open in line with the whole site’s opening hours. Click HERE to check them. Sometimes it may be closed on a Wednesday in winter months. This will be clearly advertised.
There are 7 information boards – Field View, Badgers, Farming, History, Woodland, Geology & Hedgerows. Enjoy a rest on the benches near each Information board.
On your journey look out for the badger setts, what’s growing in the fields, the owl nesting boxes in the woods, what’s growing in the hedgerows.
A great opportunity to get out & about in the beautiful Shropshire countryside. Pick up some picnic snacks in the Farm Shop or after your walk enjoy a relaxing bite to eat in the Creamery Cafe.
Follow nature’s & farming changes through the four seasons – Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. As you walk, you will see the Apley Estate all around you. As landowners & farmers, whilst we produce food, we are also guardians of the countryside, creating & managing the rural landscapes.
If you wish to use our trail, please read our Terms & Conditions HERE.
In Spring 2019, we relaunched our trail by adding sculptures created by a local chainsaw sculptor & Dave Byetheway. We will also soon have a range of nature guides for you to take with you on your walk. We hope you will enjoy this improved experience.
